Fellow Rotarians,

 

First off I would like to thank everyone for all the hard work they put into our club over the last few months, and hope everyone had a nice little break after our busy holiday fundraising season. But now it's time to get back to work!

 

Our next event will be our Cornhole Tournament being held on March 4, 2023 at the Barnegat Rec. Center. Registration starts at 11:00am and the games begin at 12 noon. We will be looking for a few volunteers to help set up and work the registration table. Please reach out to me if you are able to help out. Proceeds will be going to our Scholarship Program.

 

Our Club will be donating 25 Easter Meals again this year. We will be heading to ShopRite in Waretown on April 6, 2023 around 9:00 am to pick up the meals and bring them to the Barnegat Food Pantry. Anyone interested in helping out on that date should contact Bill, Frank or myself. 

 

As many of you know our major fundraiser “Casino Night” is quickly approaching and several members of the club have been working hard behind the scenes getting things ready. This year’s event will be held at “The Mainland” restaurant in Stafford Twp. on April 21, 2023 at 6pm. Once again, we are looking for help obtaining prizes and sponsors for the event. Kelly and Phyllis have been hard at work tracking down prizes and have put out a list of area businesses who have donated in the past. Please go over this list to see if there is a business you may have a contact for and see if they are willing to donate again. Please speak with Kelly or Phyllis before contacting the owner, so we do not have multiple people contacting the same person.

 

Also, if you or someone you know are interested in sponsoring the event, reach out to me directly. Once again there will be a $250 Gold Sponsor which gets you on the Event Banner over the prize table, our regular sponsor sign around the gaming area, and on our Social Media page or, a $100 regular Sponsor Sign which will be displayed around the gaming area.

 

Tickets are available to purchase or to sell, please contact Bill for tickets.

 

Once again MaryFrancis will be chairing our High School Scholarship committee, please reach out to her or myself if you are interested in sitting on this year's committee.  

 

Bill has scheduled several upcoming speakers for our Club Meetings. Attendance has been light over the last few months, please make every attempt to attend the following meetings when we do have a speaker.

 

2/22/23 - Jasmine Willer with The Arc of Ocean County

 

 

 

3/1/23 - RWJBarnabas- Guest Speakers:  CEO, Patrick Ahearn, Dr. Sean Jandhayla (Orthopedic Spine surgeon), and Dr. David Weiner (Orthopedic surgeon). I am asking Club Members to RSVP to this meeting. The meeting will be open to the general public and Ted (owner of Lefty’s) has allowed us to use the front dining room for this event.

 

3/8/23-  Chief Keith Germain (Barnegat Twp.Police Dept.) Our club will be presenting our District Grant check to the Chief.

3/29/23  -David Selden- Barnegat Bay Financial- College/Education Planning (David is also a member of the Forked River club)

 

There are several other ideas I have in mind for the upcoming months such as Service Projects as well as a Fellowships/ Open House. I will put it out to the Club as the details get finalized. As always I welcome any new ideas from our members for any service projects or fellowships, they would like to see our Club take part in.

 

In closing I just want to thank everyone for all of your hard work. I could not be prouder of being a part of such a great group of people who work so hard for the betterment of our Community.
